Reminder for Recruits!

Hey Recruits, remember to bring the money for your handbook, cap, recruit shirt and subscription fees if you haven't already paid for it. Also, I will be returning incomplete application forms, so please go and ask your parents for the additional information. Many of you don't have your I/C, some don't have the house address. Kindly get these things from your parents and write it down on a piece of paper neatly. If I can't read it, you'll have to do it again.

So, in short:

-Money for cap (RM11), handbook (RM7), Recruit shirt (RM 15) and subscription fee (RM60). Total: RM 93

-I/C number, address etc for incomplete application forms

-Change of clothes

What It Means To Be

Self-Control

As Christians, we ought to show that Jesus lives in us. It can be shown through our lifestyle and habits. Refraining oneself from swearing, saying perverted things, and using four-letter words is a good example of self-control. Same goes to being disciplined whether in the Boys' Brigade, in school, or even at home.

Reaching Out

One body, many parts, as the BB motto says. Staying in our own cliques or group of friends won't allow us to get to know others very well. So, we should always try to make friends with all members and make an effort to learn their names.

Being A Good Example To Others

Being a youth doesn't mean that we can't be a good example to younger members, or even the older members.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. (1 Timothy 4:12-14)

Humility

When God blesses us with a certain gift or talent, He wants us to use it to bring glory to His name, not our own. Humility not only pleases God, but wins the respect of those around us.

Respect

As Boys' Brigade members, we must respect and call one another by our ranks. We must also greet officers as we pass by them and give salutations.

God's Word is a very precious gift that we should always honour. Therefore, on Sundays during sermons, always pay attention to the preaching and respect God's Word.

Paperback Bibles and Bible Class

Living in the 21st Century, downloading a bible application into our handphones is convenient and easy. But having the bible on the phone also tempts us to play with our phones during bible study classes. This is distracting to other members who are paying attention to the class, especially the person conducting the lesson. That's why we should use paperback bibles when we attend bible study classes every Saturday. This also applies when we attend church every Sunday.

Love and Family Togetherness

As a Boys' Brigade company, we work together as a family and should always be helping out one another. Love your neighbour as yourself (Mark 12:31) To love God, we have to love one another first.

Prayer

When you're having a great day, or even a really bad one, pray. Talk to God everyday. He loves nothing more than being able to spend some quiet time with you.

BB Senior Camp 2011 @ Earth Camp, Gopeng. ( Joshua Cowie)

On Friday night, I had to go to FBC(First Baptist
Church) Subang to meet up with all the other Seniors and the camp committee for the camp breifing. I was pretty excited about the camp as this was my first Senior camp(I know awkward right?).

Well, during the camp breifing my team which is Red(GO RED TEAM!!) and the other teams which are Green, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Black, Pink and Purple, got each of our teams flags and some cloth. Everyone was instructed to have a piece of that cloth on them at all times. After that, everyone was breifed on the plan for the next day. After that the camp committee told all of us which room we had to sleep in. They also told us that when we got to our rooms, we had to take out all our stuff that was in our bags and to lay them in front of us so that they could 'inspect' for anything 'illegal' for the camp. So once that was done, all of us got ready for bed(by bed meaning either sleeping on the floor or in the sleeping bag) and went to sleep. Well at about 2am some guy in my 'room' turned off the air-con, which woke me up. At that exact same time Norman was up too, so we decided to go out of the room and walk around the church since we had practically nothing to do. We said 'hi' to Benji in the corridor and went downstairs to go look around. After some walking around we found a few cockroaches running around. After walking around for some time we realised it was 3 o' clock and we decided to go and sleep because we needed the energy for the next day. So we went upstairs, went past the room where Benji was using his laptop, reached our room and opened the door. We went in and i switched the air-con on and tried to go to sleep. At about 5am, I woke up and saw Norman awake again, so I asked Norman to follow me out of the room. Then, we walked out of the room. Just right after walking out the room, we decided to outside and play basketball. While we we're playing basketball, this old guy(i think) shouted out of his house" Ei! You Boy's Brigade ah! Playing Basketball early in the morning! Have no Dicipline ah!? Other people trying to sleep you know!!". After hearing this, Norman and I shouted back "We're sorry uncle!!!" and then we we're like "Who get's up because of basketball?". Hence the guy who complained to the church about us, sorry guys.

Half-an-hour later, everyone else got up, washed up, packed up and got ready to go to Earth Camp. We gathered outside the basketball court and we're assigned our busses. After that we loaded our luggage onto the bus and got on board. After that we we're on our way to Earth Camp!! In the bus, Ian, Ng Weng Shawn, some other dudes and I were laughing around alot!! Ian was cracking racist jokes about....uh nevermind :D. Anyways, we reached some entrance like open space to the village area. Then there was a 'lori sewa' over there to pick us up. So we loaded our luggage onto a 4x4 and got on board the 'lori sewa' and the driver drove us to the Mountain School, where our high-roping activities would be done. When we reached, we got of the lorry and we're introduced to the NOMAD guides. One of them being very famous is Mr.G. We were breifed by the guides and directed to which course to start on. Well my team and Yellow team got rock 2. So, luckily I had Isaak with me cuz we were 'bullying' eachother meaning i had a fun time roping with him. after finishing rock 2, i moved on to the hardest one that is i think called threethree? Okay i forgot but anyways it was fun. First i helped Isaak up, then Weng Shawn helped me up(by helped i meant repel). Trust me, the course was quite phisically demanding especially the starting. But after that, it was all fun!! Especially the flying fox!! After completing all the courses, I helped out with the remaining guys and girls coming down the flying fox. I had to place a ladder infront of them after they had finished so that they can release the ropes. After all the roping, all of us had lunch. After that we were transfered to SWR(Swift Water Rescue), whete we would learn how to rescure ourselves and others in a 'victim' situation. First off, the save yourselves method. We were all released from a point, and assumed the whatever-that-was-called position, and when we reached the calm water, we swam 45degrees into the calm water. Next off, saving a victim with a safety rope. We were all given the rope to practise on dry land first. After that they released some 'victims' for us to 'save'. Many of us passed the test, but some of us including me failed. :( (Sorry Yvonne lol) Well after that it started raining heavily and we could not do the 3rd part of the SWR. We we're told by the guide to take a set of a helmet and life jacket for tomorrows White Water Rafting(YEAHHH!!). Then after the guide told us about the life jacket and helmet thing, we were told by Benji that we had to push a bus!! I was like ' Say What??'. Anyways we walked out and put our luggage down, and pushed the bus. Unfortunately after many attempts, we failed(AWWWW!!!). So we had to walk all the way to Murni Camp. After about Im-not-sure-how-many-minutes , we reached Murni Camp!(YAY!!) Then we took our bathes in the commando style bathing room although some used the toilets and relaxed until dinner time. When it was dinner time, all of us gathered in the 'canteen' and sang the Table Grace and helped ourselves to some food. After that, we had our Skids which was awesome especially the blue team!! After the Skids, eeryone washed up and went to bed(bed this time meaning sleeping bags).

The next morning, everyone woke up and washed up and got ready for white water rafting. We had our breakfast, loaded the trucks with our luggage and got on board!! While the lorry ride, Platoon 2 was singing the pink fluffy unicorn song and i think those kampung folks didnt understand a word of it. Also, everyone of us got hit by branches on the way. When we reached, we had to transfer Platoon 2's luggage in to the lorry we were riding in. After that, we walked to the 'release point' and continued with our SWR. So basically, we had to swim into fast water to save the victim.(Okay i know at this point my writing is getting sloppy but i can't help it cuz my mind is like Too Long!!!) Anyways, I failed at technique(aww man!). Once we finished our SWR we were all ready for WWR(White Water Rafting)! Whoopee!! We were all thought the commands that the guide will use during the 'trip' and then we were all set to go! First off, a training exercise that we had to do, then we started going downstream. Belive it or not but the rapids although big were veryvery fun! While rafting, Weng Ian and Zer Jinn were shouting like mad!! Ralid or no rapid they were still shouting! And eventhough i was quite far away at some point i could still hear them LOUD AND CLEAR! Anyways after clearing the last rapid, we reached the end of the trip(Aww man! the fun just only started!!) . We carried our rafts up and out of the water and stacked them up. Then we boarded a lorry and headed back to the awesome Earth Camp! Again we got hit by more branches. >.< When we reached Earth Camp, we got off the lorry and went to the 'canteen' to have lunch. After lunch, we were put into our rafting groups for the 10km flat water raft downstream to the area where a bus would be waiting for us. So in my group was , Moses, Yumey, Adrian, Chung Shern, Liutenant Helen, and I myself. All of us were briefed on the dangers and methods. After that, we set off. We started out good!! We all helped eachother whenever we could. My group probably got stuck into the Stringers quite a number of times but still our morale was up!! After paddling for about 3 hours plus we reached the LZ( Landing Zone) but our(my group) raft got bumped away from the area that we were supposed to go! But some other groups also face the same fate! So we were all dragged down stream to another LZ. There was one point where we could not stand because it was too deep and one point where I almost got squashed by two rafts. So we reached point, tied our rafts to a temporary rope so that they won't go downstream. We got all the luggage out and carried the rafts out of the water. After that we carried the stuff 200 meters to the original LZ. (From this point on I'm gonna cut it short until about the ending part of the camp because there's a little suprise) Then, we helped load the rafts and kayaks onto the NOMAD lorry and took a bus to the trail leading to the camp site. When we got there we had to walk for 30 minutes until we reached the campsite. Then, it started raining and strong wind started blowing. So all of us, had to hurry and set up our A-Man tent(Amen!) quick so that we could have shelter for the night. So basically we were setting up our shelters until about 9pm. Oh and there were many leaches and most of us got 'bitten'(Yay!! Blood donation to leaches) but I didn't.(Well first of all leaches are heat seeking, so if I din kena at all does it mean I'm not hot? lol I'm ugly!!) And, many mosquitoes were around too and most of us got bitten many times but I didn't again. After that all of us were given each an energy bar and Campbell soup. My team made some tuna sandwiches and we all were eating in the tent we had set up, an we also had Devotion(Lol rite?) and chatting sessions. After that, Sir Lee Henn stopped by to say hi. Then this happened, Zer Jinn came to our tent and well after he left, Coporal Aaron Kiang and I found his leach on our ground sheet and it was still alive!! So we took some tissue, picked it up and threw it out. When it was about 12 something, I was tired to I went to sleep in a dome tent with Isaac Chan, Yee Shean and Esther Ong.

The next day, All of us woke up, restored the campsite, packed up and got transfered back to Earth Camp. Again we got hit by branches and I got hit in the face a couple of times. When we reached Earth Camp, we had some biscuits for breakfast and after that we washed up and washed the camp stuff(Oh and not forgetting the nice welcome by the Junior section).I washed the portable stove next to Jon Ong who was also washing a stove. After that I took a bath and packed all my stuff properly. Then after all the cleaning, all of us Seniors boarded the bus and we were on our way back home.(Now here's where it starts to get interesting) Before we started on the highway, we were all having the best meal at a tai chao restaurant! After that on the bus, Weng Ian and I laughed for 3 hours straight!!! Along with the people who joined us for the first 2 hours, Norman(and his famous bak ku teh and banana porridge stories), ZerJinn, Shern Yi, Yee Shean, Esther and Yvonne. So at one point we had Normans impressive and famous bak ku teh story interpreted by me: One day, Norman was eating Bak Ku Teh alone in a shop. Out of nowhere while eating , an old couple sat down and started eating his Bak Ku Teh. Norman looked up and just ignored them. After some time, the old couple left with a free meal. the end.

So for the last part of the trip i just napped off for 15 minutes i think. Then when we reached FBC subang, we got out of the bus, got our luggage, lepak for awhile, ate some Chachos and went back home.

So basically this was a very fun Senior camp. I enjoyed it very much although some bad stuff happened. I managed to be able to learn more things. And also learn how to cook. Norman's banana porridge. I hope that the Senior camp would be better than this considerring the Sunday night struggle.

Camp Experience (Chin Yvonne)

To be able to stuff everything into one bag, I walked with pride as I enter church. That was until we were told to open everything in our bag for spot check. I nearly faced a jaw-dropping experience. I spend 4 days trying to stuff everything inside my bag, and now they tell me to take EVERYTHING out. Well, it actually helped because I forgot where I placed my things. Sleeping in an air-con room was not hard at all.

I always thought BB Camp’s was “plain torture”! Okay it is not torture; it is just very very tough. This camp was my first outdoor camp! If you ask me, is it tough but it was super duper extremely FUN! Tough + Tough + Tough + Tough = Hard Work Paid Off.

We started out the camp in Mountain School. It seemed easy, but don’t judge a book by its cover. The nomad crew climbed the vertical ropes course without dropping a single drop of sweat. But believe me it was super hard. I nearly fell (gulp embarrassing) in Rock 3 (one of the easiest challenge), just like life when you fall, no one’s going to help you, you need to help yourself. My hardest challenge was (of course) the vertical course. I nearly gave up, but I was afraid of what people will think of me. (So much for being thick faced). I stop many times; thank God there were safety lines. Every time I reach a platform, I can bet if no one was watching I would have hugged it. It was so tiring. Nevertheless, I manage to finish all the obstacle with my so-called “STRONG Determination” and “Persistence”. The end was sweet-“Flying Fox”, who doesn’t like them, you don’t have to do anything, and you don’t even need to hold on to the rope. I notice to complete the obstacle; you not only need to be strong physically but mentally too. The safety line play a very big role, it is like our savior somehow! Well the rope challenge is similar to life; it is like obstacles in our lives. It may seem easy but it is not. To taste success you have to go through the hard way. I was rather happy because I WAS ABLE TO DOOOOO ALLLLL THE ROPEEE COURSES! =D

After lunch, we did Swift Water Rescue. Firstly, I can’t really swim, technically I can only float. Even if I swim, I can only swim in a 1.4m pool. So to be able to safe myself in a river with water current which is so fast just sound IMPOSSIBLE. Saving your victim is in a stationary position is easy, but saving someone in fast waters in not as easy as that. I was suppose to save Lieutenant Helen with the ropes, but I didn’t do so well. Not only did I not safe Lieutenant, I threw the whole rope into the river. Lesson learnt, when you do something wrong, DON’T EVER NOT PANIC. My third assessment was to safe a victim in fast waters WITHOUT ROPES. I thought to myself there is no way on earth I’m going to save my victim. Well, let’s just say I’m lucky my victim is still ALIVE. Not only did I not save my victim, my victim went down stream. (Very dangerous). No one actually got the chance to flow down stream. So sorry to all my victims. Second lesson learnt, don’t think negatively, always think positively, and never say I CAN’T. Apart from that, DON’T EVER SAFE SOMEONE IF YOU CAN’T SAVE YOURSELF.

Skit night, the skits were so random, the object given to my group was spectacles, the action was selling, the song was born this way by lady gaga, and our prop was a ping-pong bat. It was so POTONG, at least it made sense. (A little, I think). Every group did very well; it was cool to see how some shy and timid people can show their talents so well. =)

Our VIP rides; the LORRY was one of my favorite. On the first day when the bus stopped, there were two lorries in front of us. I actually thought we were supposed to walk to the camp site by foot. When they told us we are going to load all our bags in the lorry and get up. The expression on my face was “Errrrrrrrrr???” It is like a life virtual video game. You avoid the tree branches, tree leaves, practically everything that can hit our HEADS. People will be shouting DUG any minute. The ride is a 3 in1 ride, not only do we get closer to nature and breathe in fresh air, we get to reach our destination, and it TRAINS us to become more ALERT. Singing loudly in the lorry was AWESOME. We shouted like a little girl every time we saw someone. (No we are not crazy we are just to excited)

On the second day, we did white water rafting. Thanks to the guide our boat did not capsize. But I can honestly say my teammates and I hardly did any pedaling. It was mostly the guide. All we did was hold on the rope at the side. Though 45 minutes felt very short, it was super FUN. Later we did CALM Water Rafting. It was rather stressful. My team got Ng Weng Ian as the head. Believe me having siblings on the same raft was not easy. One minute it will be Ian shouting front pedal, the rest will be shouting NOOOO its back pedal. The first few minutes was havoc, we were so blur, going left, going right, going left, going right, but we got hang of it eventually. I think I was practically screaming every time Ian gave direction. I would be repeating everything he said again in a louder tone. Thank God my team was understanding. Here, we see teamwork playing a big impact; if someone slacks the raft won’t be able to turn properly, one body many parts huh? Listening more and talk less was very important. There was once our raft got stuck to another raft under a tree. We freaked out when the other teams told us there are snakes in the tree. When we finally moved, I fell into the river. How dumb of me to do LIMBO to avoid the tree branch. It was hard getting up the raft again. Lucky Ian pushed me up. BUT Ian was still in the river, because he was not very light he was unable to get back up the raft. So he needed to body raft until he could climb back on to the raft. Rafting without a leader was hard. We were so blur. And since the only STRONGER person in our group was Ian, controlling the raft was a little difficult. When the nomad crew told us to smile when we drop off the raft, I can guarantee you, no one actually did smile. Well it actually helped when you smile, it calms you down. Well still everything is easier said than done. 3 hours of rafting was exhausting. One of the nomad crew was on his kayak resting and his kayak moved faster than our raft. We complain a lot as our muscles were aching. The bamboo branches and tress weren’t much help either. Our raft practically DRIFT while turning. After rafting I can’t really feel my legs. (Gulp)

While walking to our camp site, which is in the middle of no where, we took our grandma time. (We walked really slow). Before we even reach the camp site it started raining. Initially I thought all of us were suppose to set up dome tents. Little did I know we were supposed to pitch our tents, with camp poles, lots of string, and tampoline sheet. I’ve never even seen tampoline sheet in my life, I thought it was mainly for construction work. Chopping trees in the rain, finding wood for camp fire, so this is called camping! Interesting! 14 people stuffed in an Amen tent. The hardest was using the bathroom, wait its called nature’s room. My sleeping bag got wet so I couldn’t sleep the whole night. I was literally eaten alive by mosquitoes. Unlike SAMUEL LOW who snored the whole night. Nearly everyone did not have a good night rest. I am deeply grateful that I don’t have a leech bite. I bet if I did I would be screaming like mad. Every few minutes I wake then sit down and fall back HALF ASLEEP again. Cooking dinner for my team was weird, because I hardly cook. Cooking my porridge/ rice was challenging. Why? Because if it is inedible what is my team gonna eat. I didn’t know how much water was needed to be put inside. But I can say the PORRIDGE/RICE was Delicious.

The last day we washed everything. I washed a dome tent; this dome tent had blood patches on it because of leeches (goose bumps), there were also chewing gum stain. Before lunch I heard someone saying, “YES, WE FINALLY GET TO EAT REAL FOOD!” Does he mean that throughout the whole camp we were eating fake food?

I learn a lot through this camp don’t be fussy and be grateful. Imagine just 3 days and we can’t stop whining and complaining. Every time we waste so much food, but we don’t know this food we waste can actually feed a lot of other people. Think about other people who live in rural areas. Yea sure, they get to breath more fresh air. You don’t see them complaining about their lives. I can say is THIS CAMP IS FUN, and for a first timer like me, it was worth it. It toughens you physically and mentally. Life is not always smooth sailing, calm seas don’t make good sailor. With God anything is possible. Thanks God there wasn’t any serious injuries. Just like our company motto, one body many parts, without teamwork, you won’t go anywhere. To those who went for camp, ps: don’t scratch, resist temptation! :P

Camp Experience (Colin Loh)

Before the camp started, I was really excited . This is the second nature camp i've been to . To be honest , I thought the first nature camp I went was kinda scary to me , but in the end I had lots of fun . When I got the forms for the camp , the first thing on my mind was that I definitely have to go this year.

The first day of the camp was actually staying overnight in church . I didn't really sleep well on the first day because of the different surrounding I guess. The next morning, we woke up and prepared for the trip to Gopeng. After preparing , we had a little briefing and left for Gopeng . The trip took about 3 hours I think , and we went by platoons.

When we arrived , we had to put our luggage into a truck and head to a river where we did our SRT ( Swift Water Rescue Training). We had a short journey to the river and started the training. The first thing we had to do was lie down in the water with a kinda strong current and let your hands out with a T shape and swim to safety all by yourself.

There was a few things we had to do , we had to rescue people with a rope and try to throw it properly , try to rescue people by swimming to the person that's moving by the water current and we had to know how to hold the rope while being rescued. The SRT was really fun and it was a good experience.

After the SRT , we had lunch and headed to our next activity which is the rope course . The first nature camp I went had the exact same rope course , but now it's changed abit ( abit more challenging ).
The rope course was really high , and the worse part of the 'Tree 3' rope course is the small narrow ladders . While doing the 'Rock 1' rope course , it started raining.

The rocks and ropes started to become more slippery, but thank God nobody got hurt . After my group 'Purple' finished the course, we had to wait for the rain to stop , then only we could continue. The best part of the entire rope course was the 'Tree 3's flying fox.

We all had fun with all the activities, but it was a tiring day. After that we went to a campsite and ate dinner there which we had our skit night ! The dinner was nice and we had lots of laughter during the skit. The skit which I enjoyed most was the Blue Team’s skit about mestins . But for the rest of the skits , I enjoyed them just as much .

The next morning , we all had to prepare for the White water Rafting . the part of camp which I liked the most is the water rafting. It was super exciting and fun, especially with our guide Andy. He seems to be very experienced in rafting.

After White Water Rafting , we did another rafting but this time with calm waters. It was very tiring , all of us had to row non-stop to keep the raft moving, but it was fun too. I even fell off the raft once because I was careless. All of us rowed to a place and from there , we walked to our new campsite . Halfway walking to the campsite, it started raining . By the time we reached the campsite, it was still raining and the weather was really really cold.

We had to set tents up which took us a long time , especially with the cold weather and people being tired from the day of rafting. After setting up our tent we all were very hungry and started cooking dinner . After dinner , most of us went to sleep , and some decided to stay up all night, but ended up falling asleep.

The tent was a bit wet too , that made it hard to fall asleep. I had 35-45 mosquito bites on my left leg and 30 plus on my right leg, it’s still itching till today, can’t stop scratching …. It was a good experience camping outside with all those insects biting us .

The last day, I felt like the camp was too short , the camp ended so quickly without me knowing it . We had to pack up and wash the Tent sheets and clean the dome tents before leaving the campsite. After everything , I heard that the results for the SRT will be coming out the next week . Even if I don’t pass , I wouldn’t mind, because I had lots of fun in the camp .

BB Senior Section Camp (Silas Woon)

It was one Friday night when all of us seniors slowly flooded into
Subang Church at about 8"30pm onwards.. At about 9 something, we fall-
in beside the basketball court in our respective groups and platoons,
in "colors". We had a short briefing and had to decide our group name,
skit, cheer, and object. After that we were assigned to our rooms in
the church for the night. We went back to the rooms to drop our
luggage before heading for supper(which was curry puff, donuts, choco
cakes). Then after that we washed-up and slept at around 11pm. The
next day yawns were heard as early as 5am. All of us reluctantly left
the airconditioned room to clean up. The bus arrived and we flooded
in. It was still quite dark. We played card games (like cho-dài-di) in
the bus on the way there and told jokes. We arrived in middle of no
where and boarded another smaller bus (which had lots of red ants) and
headed to the River where the Nomad Adventure guides waited for us. A
little guidance and help we were ready to start our Water Rescue
Training. Basic instructions helped us. Some of us panicked at first,
but after a few rounds we were glad we actually went for it. Second
part of the programme was saving a partner through using ropes. We
practiced and put it in real use. Finally it was saving the partner,
WITHOUT ROPES, just your body. After that we had lunch and went for
the High Ropes where the similar people helped us. It took real
courage and bravery for us to take on the obstacles. At the end we
went to a place where we spent the night. Dinner was delicious and the
skit night was EPIC. Next day we went white water rafting which Chung
Weng fell off (in our boad). We had to walk back for 30 mins after
that. We showered and rested. At the evening we had to raft about 2
1/2 hours to our campsite for the night. We had to walk 45 minutes
uphill in our soaking wet bags and sand in our shoes. It rained
halfway.. When we finally arrived at the top, we set up tents using
the parang we were given to look for branches. Then we settled down.
Leache bites were very common there. We cooked dinner and I found out
that a leach had been in my pants (you don't wanna know what else
happened, cause blood was EVERYWHERE in there). Then we slept. Next
day a lorry picked us up and heads back to Earth Camp for the closing.
We washed up, announcements were made, winning teams celebrate, and
get ready to leave. We had lunch on the way back, and arrived at
Subang Church at 5:10pm (for platoon 2).

This camp has been very fun, and very physical demanding. Not so much
the spiritual side, but the camp taught me to work as a team. And I
lost my BB2SJ uniform with my pants.

There will be a drill team tryout this Saturday whereby the best drill members will be chosen to join the new BB2SJ drill team. 15 members total ( 1 Commander 12 Members 2 Substitutes)

Please note that the team is subject to great change, which means if you get chosen this week, you may be booted the next week,

which also means, if you didn't make the team this time round and we see you performing well, (better than some people in the current drill team) you will be given an honorable invite.

Our first competition will be the state level competition at the end of May.

Swimming Test

“… The swimming test on 29 Jan 2011 went very well and all that went put in their best…..

Some got through the tests quite smoothly, while a few tried more than a couple of times and eventually the determination paid off.

Private Berwin went for Swimming Advance Badge, very good effort and determination though missed the required time by 3 seconds.

We encourage him to try again in the next one or two months’ time : and Private Berwin would be very very proud when he finally achieved the required timing and earn the badge !!!

Overall appearance - Neat, Tidy, Smart

Cap – Slanted to the right, 1 finger above the right ear; 2 ears above the right eyebrow. no hair visible on the forehead.

Nametag – 2mm above the left chest pocket.

Haversack – White, only wash when dirty. Not loose but fit snugly

Badges – 2 fingers below shoulder flash, 5 in a row, in alphabetical order from left to right. if you have less than 5 badges in your last row, start from the middle.

Lanyard - White, only wash when dirty, completely tucked into right pocket. Not Loose but fit snugly

Brass pieces – polished, shiny and smudge free.

Sleeves - folded sized according to your cuffs, above he elbow.

Top – neatly ironed with military press.

Pants – Leg press.

Uniform – Shirt buttons, belt and pants zipper must be aligned and centered.

Long socks – Navy blue, folded to cover the top shoe lace knot.

Boots – top cap shiny, boot cleanly wiped.
